Whether it be an operational power station, or a new build project, our regulators work with nuclear operators to ensure the highest levels of environmental protection are achieved. As a regulator, you will be at the forefront of this work.
Why Choose Us:

Champion Health, Safety and Wellbeing: Become the champion for Health and Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) practices. You will play a leadership role in promoting a positive HSW culture across the regulation team.
Incident Response: Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You'll be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
What will you do?
As a site regulator, you'll be the focal point for all Environment Agency interactions on site. You'll be part of one of our specialist teams and have the opportunity to broaden your skills across a number of sectors of the nuclear industry such as nuclear new build and geological disposal.
You'll provide specialist advice, guidance and support to our senior managers and external partners in line with relevant legislation and best practice. You'll deliver risk-based decision making to support delivery of environmental outcomes.
Undertaking audit, inspection and enforcement activities at nuclear sites for processes regulated under legislation, you'll advise a range of customers in the nuclear industry on the legislation we enforce and the standards we expect to see. You'll assist with Generic Design Assessment (GDA) of potential new reactor designs proposed for construction and operation in England and assess their acceptability in terms of both radioactive and non-radioactive impacts. You'll also review environmental permits for nuclear sites.
You'll assist with assessment of nuclear plant designers' and operators', optioneering and optimisation plans to ensure best available techniques (BAT) are employed. You'll also be assessing technical information relating to radioactive waste, associated environment protection equipment and discharges from nuclear sites.
You'll be the customer account manager on site, liaising with local area staff, to provide an integrated regulatory service and influence operators to go beyond regulatory compliance to achieve enhanced environmental protection.
What will I need?
